Elkon

Elkon, a member of the Schottel Group, stands at the forefront of the design and manufacturing of advanced electrical systems, as well as automation solutions provided for sea vessels of various sizes. Elkon’s state-of-the-art engineering and production facilities are located in Turkey, where Elkon delivers the finest services to the worldwide marine industry. Elkon also has a dedicated branch, ElkoNorge AS, based in Norway to handle all matters related to sales and after-sales support. Elkon’s research and development (R&D) efforts focus on several key areas. These areas include the automation of ships, the development of energy storage systems that power hybrid or entirely electric systems, and the electrification of vessels. Elkon is also keenly interested in direct current (DC) systems and power electronics, further showcasing dedication to advancing the marine industry. 

Elkon’s role in the GAMMA project, leading and participating in multiple tasks and work packages. Elkon is involved in designing and upgrading safety alert and monitoring systems, with a particular focus on enhancing the alarm system. Elkon takes a leadership role in integrating these advanced systems, ensuring that all necessary safety monitoring data is accurately provided and seamlessly connected.  

In addition to work on safety systems, Elkon is tasked with integrating new electrical power systems into the existing power architecture. This involves overseeing the entire electrical installation process to ensure it meets the project’s high standards. Elkon’s expertise extends to incorporating innovative solutions for fire detection and monitoring.  

Furthermore, Elkon modifies the AMS serial interface, ensuring that all critical connections are included and functioning properly. This modification is vital for the efficient and reliable operation of the integrated systems. Through comprehensive involvement, Elkon not only enhances the technical aspects of the GAMMA project but also ensures that the highest safety standards are maintained throughout the vessel’s operations.
